Glock reduced the backstrap circumference just a teeny bit. I reach the 30 fine, but the 30 sf seems awesome feeling to me. The G30 (32.50MM wide) is just a little bit wider than the G26 (30MM wide). What I would also consider is most put an extension on the G26 which makes the grip the same length as the 19/30 with facotry extension.

The mag release button is on the gun left side on my Glock 17, 19 & 30 and I press it with my left index finger pad which works great with no pain. You mention that you use your left middle finger. Wow, the difference is like night and day. The 30 feels like a brick compared to the 19, even though both guns are almost the same size. I guess thickness difference and weight does matter! Both conceal just as well, but the 19 is a lot more comfortable. My 30 isn't going anywhere though.

No one seems to have a great answer. My instincts tell me the 30SF is a "shortened frame" 30. But then what the hell is the 30S? 30S has the SF frame with a thinner slide almost the width of a Glock 19. Have you tried www.Glock.com ? The 30S is a gen 3 that has a slim slide and the "shortened" frame.
