I almost bought the Colt Defender, but went with the Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry instead. The Kimber was just more appealing to me. I wouldn't put the Defender and the Raptor in the same class. The Raptor is much more refined and seems to be put together better, IMO. If the "melt" treatment doesn't make a difference but the Raptor Scale treatment and the same color finish does, the Raptor is for you. I own an Ultra RCP II and an Ultra Carry II, I like them both.
